VERTICAL SPEED INDICATOR (VSI)
Like the altimeter this instrument measures air pressure to arrive at its display. However rather than measure absolute pressure, it uses the rate of change of pressure to produce a rate of climb or descent reading. The VSI shown here is indicating that the aircraft is flying level. i.e. neither climbing nor descending.
